Who can apply? What countries?

On this page we inform you about who can apply for the two kinds of funding, and which countries that are prioritised.

Funding for demonstration projects:

The applicant for a demonstration project shall be an authority, municipality, institution or enterprise which is legally registered in the relevant recipient country and which has an identified delivering contractual party (supplier). The supplier can not be  from the same country as the applicant (buyer) of a demonstration project. The supplier in a demonstration project has to have a proven and tested technology/solution and the technology has to be new to the host country. The supplier has to have been active for at least 3 years and have at least three employees.

Funding for pilot studies:

Applications for pilot studies on project development and project identification can be submitted by small and medium sized enterprises that have been active for at least 3 years and that have at least three employees.

Prioritised countries

The countries that at present are prioritised by DemoEnvironment are listed below. The list is regularly updated by Sida on the basis of the guidelines that are issued by the Swedish government and parliament.

Africa

Botswana, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia.

Latin America

Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Haiti.

Asia

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, China, Mongolia, Iraqi Kurdistan, Pakistan.

Western Balkans

Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia.

CIS

Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldavia.

EC State Aid Law

The funding is subject to what is stated on "de minimis (i.e. negligible) aid" in the EC State Aid Law. This means that companies awarded funding cannot at the same time receive other financial aid, if the total aid granted exceeds 200 000 Euro (c. SEK 1 800 000) during a three-year period.
