The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth - Tillväxtverket -, promotes enterprise and entrepreneurship within the travel and tourism industry through boosting skills, improving quality and cooperation.
The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth is responsible for statistics on tourism, and a key task is collecting and disseminating information and knowledge about the development of tourism and the travel and tourism industry in Sweden.
The production and development of information and knowledge about the development of tourism and the travel and tourism industry in Sweden, are among our most important responsibilities.
The total travel and tourism consumption in Sweden increased by 6.1 percent in 2009. Between 2000 and 2009, the total tourism consumption in Sweden has increased more than 67 percent in current prices. Exports, the value of foreign visitors´ consumption in Sweden, increased during the same period by more than 130 percent at current prices. The added value and the number employed within travel and tourism also increased significantly during the period. Tourism´s share of/relation to Sweden´s total GDP was 3,1 percent during 2009.

In this publication tourism and the travel and tourism industry in Sweden are illustrated from a large number of different perspectives, such as supply and demand, currency flows, economics, volumes and behaviour. Here you will also find comparisons with our Nordic neighbours and with the development of tourism in the world.
The 2009 edition of "Tourism in Sweden" will be published during the autumn 2010.
