Movexum is to be an incubator for the whole of Gävleborg County

This project, called Movexum Business Incubator Gävleborg (Movexum Företagsinkubator Gävleborg), is intended to develop the incubator into a strong and effective arena for company development.

The intention was to support the emergence of new ideas and companies from the business sector, higher education and the public sector, thus increasing growth in the region. 

The business sector in Gävleborg County is characterised by a number of well-run companies. However, on account of the structural change in the region, growth will not be generated from them, but from small companies that want to grow. In the long term the activities of the incubator, along with other initiatives such as clusters and innovation systems, will therefore be able to contribute to the renewal of industry that the region needs.

“We have made good progress, but there are ways to improve our operations all the time. In autumn 2010 we made new efforts to link more actors in the region to us," says Movexum´s MD, Ulf Borbos.

“The statistics show that Movexum was well-placed with regard to its current business objectives. For example, the business incubator has already achieved its target for the number of companies that are in or have passed the pre-lab/pre-accelerator phase. We were also very well-placed with regard to our other business objectives for 2010. Movexum also had a good distribution of incubator companies across the county."

A challenge for Movexum was to working on is gender distribution in the entrepreneur group.
"Every month we were seeing an increase in applications from women entrepreneurs. In autumn 2010, 25 per cent of the business owners were women," says Ulf Borbos.
